Spears taken from her home in ambulance

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears was taken from her home by ambulance early Thursday and escorted to the hospital by more than a dozen police officers in cars, on motorcycles and in helicopters.

A Los Angeles police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said the 26-year-old pop star was being taken to the hospital to "get help." The Los Angeles Times cited unidentified authorities who said Spears was being placed on a "mental evaluation hold."

Spears was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where her mother, Lynne, was seen leaving its psychiatric hospital at about 5:30 a.m.

When asked by a throng of paparazzi and reporters whether Britney was doing all right, Lynne Spears replied, "Yeah," before leaving in a Range Rover.

Hours earlier, shortly after 1 a.m., the motorcade that pulled away from Spears' residence was nearly the length of a football field. Along with the ambulance, it included police on nearly a dozen motorcycles and in two cruisers. Two police helicopters followed overhead.

The scene was more controlled than the one earlier this month when Spears also was taken away from her home in an ambulance.

On Jan. 3, police were called to her home when she refused to return her two young sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to ex-husband Kevin Federline, who has custody.

Officers had paramedics haul Spears to a hospital for undisclosed reasons. She was released after a day and a half in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Police also went to Spears' hilltop residence off Mulholland Drive on Monday night after someone reported a swarm of paparazzi trespassing in the singer's gated community. When officers arrived, they didn't see anyone trespassing, police said, but citations were issued for several illegally parked cars.

Spears has been in a highly public downward spiral since filing for divorce from Federline in November 2006.

Her bizarre antics include shaving her head bald, attacking a car with an umbrella and bringing along a paparazzo pal on trips to a courthouse in her child custody case.

Spears' child custody case has become a public spectacle, with her skipping depositions and twice this month arriving at the courthouse but not attending the hearing.

The most recent incident was last week, when Spears showed up at the downtown civil courts building for a chance to persuade a Superior Court commissioner to change his order and allow her to see her sons.

Dressed as if arriving for a cocktail party — wearing bright pink lipstick, sunglasses, shiny gold platform shoes and a very short black dress with a ruffled hem — Spears was driven into an underground garage and then entered the courthouse.

A court spokesman said she got through a security metal detector, then announced, "I want to leave," and returned to her car.

Huge police operation takes Spears from home to hospital

LOS ANGELES, California -- A police motorcade the length of a football field escorted troubled pop star Britney Spears to a Los Angeles hospital early Thursday to get her some help, a law-enforcement official told CNN.

This is the second hospital visit for Spears this month, coming after her psychologist called the police, according to the Los Angeles Times.

She was removed from her home for a "mental evaluation hold," according to the L.A. Times.

Outside UCLA Medical Center's psychiatric hospital, reporters and paparazzi crowded around the singer's mother Lynne Spears and asked if her 26-year-old daughter was doing all right, reported The Associated Press.

"Yeah," she replied, before departing in a Range Rover, AP reported.

The North Hollywood Police Department sent about eight officers to Spears' hilltop house in Studio City, California, about 12:55 a.m. Thursday, according to the law enforcement official, who asked not to be identified because he's not authorized to comment publicly.

The group at Spears' house included plainclothes officers, motorcycle police, ambulance crews and some police "brass," the official said.

It took the better part of the day to arrange the transport plan, the officer said.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the pop star was taken to UCLA Medical Center. On January 3, Spears was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she reportedly underwent a psychological evaluation.

Andrew Blankstein, a Los Angeles Times reporter who was at the scene of Thursday's incident, told CNN that a police convoy, stretching the length of a football field, accompanied the ambulance as it drove down Coldwater Canyon Boulevard -- in part to keep the paparazzi from getting too close.

Spears was whisked out a side entrance to her house.

"You couldn't really see what was going on [when officers first swept into the residence] but on the police radio, there was some reference to 'The package is on the way out,' 'We're leaving now. Go, go, go,'" Blankstein said.

A few hours earlier, two officers were sent to investigate a report of a large group gathered outside the singer's home, said David Grimes, watch commander for the west division of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The two officers found 20 to 25 people near the house around 11 p.m. Wednesday and they asked them to leave, he said. See Spears timeline »

ABC-TV host Barbara Walters reported on Monday's "The View" that she had been contacted by Spears' manager and "good friend," Sam Lutfi, who told her the pop star has seen a psychiatrist and "is suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable," according to The Associated Press.

During Spears' earlier hospitalization, in addition to the psychological evaluation, she was examined for possible influence of alcohol or drugs. Police had been called to her home that night to mediate a custody dispute.

A day later, a California court refused to grant Spears visitation rights with her two children -- Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1 -- at least until mid-February.

Spears has been in a heated dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline over custody of their sons. Federline, Spears' former backup dancer, holds primary custody of the children.

Spears has been in trouble with the court earlier concerning her compliance with court orders in the custody case.

After filing for divorce in November 2006, Spears was frequently seen enjoying Hollywood nightlife. Her behavior became increasingly erratic; in February 2007, she shaved her head as paparazzi looked on, then spent a month in rehab.

Dr. Phil' regrets talking about Spears

NEW YORK - Television's "Dr. Phil" McGraw says he regrets talking about Britney Spears' mental health after visiting her in the hospital, but didn't violate the family's trust.

"I regret making the statement. It didn't help. It didn't work," the syndicated TV psychologist said Wednesday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Spears, 26, was hospitalized in Los Angeles after a child custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline resulted in an hours-long standoff with police Jan. 3. Federline has sole physical and legal custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

McGraw said he visited the pop singer as a family friend, and rejected critics who accused him of practicing psychology without a license.

"I did not go there to diagnose her. I did not go there to treat her," said McGraw, who showed up at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Jan. 5 as Spears was about to be discharged.

McGraw said he retired his Texas license after 25 years of private practice because of the demands of his "Dr. Phil" daytime talk show.

The Spears family has accused McGraw of betraying their trust by making an "inappropriate" public statement about the singer's hospitalization.

McGraw had told celebrity news TV shows that Spears was in "dire" need of medical and psychological help.

In an appearance on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday, McGraw said his public comments after visiting Spears were intended to prevent rumors and misinformation.

"I wanted to stop speculation about what may have gone on in there," he said.

Britney 'has seen psychiatrist'

Britney Spears

Britney Spears has seen a psychiatrist for "mental issues", according to US talk show host Barbara Walters.

Walters said that the 26-year-old's manager, Sam Lutfi, had contacted her.

Mr Lutfi told her the pop star was suffering from "mental issues which are treatable", Walters said on her show, The View.

Spears lost custody of her two sons earlier this month after refusing to hand them over to her ex-husband at a scheduled pick-up time.

Mr Lutfi had been staying with Spears constantly, "and he got in touch with us", Walters said.

'Trouble sleeping'

"He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."

"She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping, and also she is in touch with her mother - and her mother has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is going to do," she said.

Troubled Spears filed for divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline in November 2006.

Spears' manager says singer has "mental issues"

Sam Lufti, the manager and companion of troubled pop star Britney Spears, has said the singer suffers from "mental issues" and has seen a psychiatrist, talk show host Barbara Walters revealed on Monday.

On her ABC television show "The View," veteran broadcast journalist Walters said she spoke with Lufti by phone after he reached out to her.

"He said that Britney is suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable," Walters said on "The View." "He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."

Walters said Lufti has been staying with the singer "constantly" and added that Spears has been having "mood swings, she's been having trouble sleeping."

Walters said she did not know whether Lufti was indeed telling the truth.

Spears, 26, has seen her life spin out of control in the past year since her late 2006 divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline.

She has exhibited bizarre behavior in public, including being photographed not wearing underwear, and she and Federline have waged a bitter legal battle over custody of their sons.

Late last year, Spears lost custody and visitation rights to Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, and was ordered to undergo drug and alcohol counseling and parental coaching.

She has failed on numerous occassions to appear in Los Angeles family court for hearings dealing with her and Federline's custody issues.

Britney Spears' Boyfriend Now Trying to Sell Videos of Her

Britney Spear picture

Britney Spear's paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is now shopping around six video clips of the mentally unstable star, and is asking for an astounding $2 million. The films reportedly depict the singer at her worst and speaking of herself in third person.

News of the World got a sneak peek at the clips, which they've described as follows:

CLIP No1 shows Britney sitting on her bed wearing a nightie. She talks about herself in the third person and rambles about her childhood. She's heard saying:

"When Britney was a child, she had to work really hard. When she was 13 years old, she won all the beauty pageants."

CLIP No2 shows Brit wrapped in a white bath towel, again perched on the edge of the bed. Talking to thin air, she mumbles:

"Britney has an angel looking out for her, don't you, angel?"

CLIP No3 sees a Britney talking to Adnan, who's holding the camera, and calling him by his pet name Bubba.

She smiles: "I'm really happy. Bubba's here for me now. It's all good."

Adnan is still withholding CLIP No4 and CLIP No5 but CLIP No6, filmed last week, shows Britney crying hysterically after a night out.

What, no sex tape?

Britney Spears shows up for custody testimony

Troubled pop star Britney Spears has finally given testimony in her custody dispute with ex-husband K-Fed over their two boys, according to published reports.

Troubled pop star Britney Spears

Paparazzi swarm Britney Spears on January 14 outside a Los Angeles courthouse.

People.com and TMZ.com report Spears was seen leaving the Los Angeles-area office of Kevin Federline's lawyer about two hours after she arrived Monday.

Spears has been having trouble making recent legal dates.

On December 12, she called in sick for a court-ordered deposition, then arrived late at the lawyer's office on its rescheduled date, January 3.

That night she was taken to a hospital after a stand-off in her home when she refused to return the children to Federline's bodyguard following a visit.

Spears' next court hearing is scheduled for February 19th, when she'll try to regain a judge's permission for visits with her two young boys.

Spears married Federline in 2004 and filed for divorce in 2006.

Throughout 2007, her behavior was erratic -- and highly public, as a train of photographers trailed her everywhere.

A court ordered her to undergo random drug and alcohol testing, and to temporarily give the boys to Federline.

Spears' attorneys asked the court this month to be relieved as her counsel because of a "breakdown" in communication.

Britney Spears Gets Naked...On Radio

Britney Spears Gets Naked...On Radio

Britney Spears continued her spout of bizarre behavior when she indulged in a radio interview from her shower.

The pop-tart’s producer friend, Sam Lutfi, called in to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM show yesterday morning to dismiss reports Spears bared her breasts to Kitson (see pictures here) clothing store employees during one of her random late-night shopping sprees on Thursday morning.

"It wasn't two in the morning," he told Seacrest. "It was midnight, I think."

He then quickly added, "[She was] definitely not topless... That never happened."

Lutfi then tried to hand the phone to Spears so she could speak to the DJ from her swank Hollywood pad.

"Get out, I'm naked, get out!" Spears is heard yelling. "I stink, 'cause I'm a human being. Shut the door, I'm nasty!"

Another voice quickly appeared on the line, a friend of Lutfi's named Chad Hardcastle, who also tried to explain Brit's after-hours shopping trip to the Kitson boutique in West Hollywood.

"Boredom," said the latest addition to Spears' already blooming entourage.

When asked where he fit into Britney's Chaotic world, he added, "I'm still trying to figure it out myself, man. I don't really know."

Lufti also took the opportunity to dismiss an array of rumors surrounding the once pop-princess – including reports which claim Spears is trying to have a baby with her news paparazzi beau, Adnan Ghalib, after they were spotted shopping for home pregnancy tests.

"I don't know if they even bought one” Lutfi said. "I think they were just f-----g around."

He also dismissed reports that the pair planned to wed, saying: "No, that's not true."

The producer also claims that despite the Toxic singer’s hospitalization on Jan. 3, following a custody stand-off between the pop star and her ex-husband Kevin Federline's minder over a visitation issue, all is going well with Brit.

"Everything's fine” Lufti insisted” She's back on track, she's handling it.

"She's just got some appointments, some doctor meetings that she's got to handle."

Britney Latest

britney spears,

Her cars been impounded and she’s pretending to be a Brummie…

Britney Spears is still not lying low despite her mental health problems and the intense media attention about her.

Her white Mercedes car was impounded after she got a flat tire and unwisely left the vehicle in the middle of an LA road.

Stranded the Piece Of Me star then accepted a lift from a paparazzo who was trailing her, though not the British photographer she is dating.

It appears Adnan Ghalib has helped her with something though. According to reports she has used a Brummie accent during a recent sanity test. Britney decided to use a Birmingham accent during her stay at the Cedars Medical Centre after her recent breakdown. Probably not the best way to prove you’re sane…

While being driven to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Britney Spears was secured to the gurney on which she was being transported by tie-downs to stop her from struggling.

Spears is currently on a 72 hours lockdown for mental evaluation at the hospital.

Details are now emerging as to what transpired at her house Thursday night, December 3.

Britney, believed to be under the influence of some drug, was carried out on a stretcher from her house and placed in an ambulance. She was then secured by tiedowns to stop her struggling.

The court appointed monitor summoned the police when Britney refused to hand over Jayden.

"She [The Monitor] had already put Preston in the car when Britney locked herself in a room with Jayden," a source told People. "The cops came and got through the door and tied her down to a gurney."

Jayden was taken to the hospital by the monitor in a separate ambulance.

Both the toddlers are now at Federline's house.

Federline lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan is due in court at 8:30 am. He is expected to request the judge to divest Britney of her visitation rights.

According to Life & Style, Britney Spears blood tests at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have come back negative suggesting that she was not under the influence.

“Her blood test just came back, and, thank God, it was clean. There are no traces of drugs or alcohol of any kind,” a source close to the Spears family told the magazine.

Britney still has a chance

Britney Spears
Britney Spears.

Despite having missed her second court ordered deposition Wednesday, January 02, Britney Spears can redeem her right to custody of her two toddlers if she attends two more scheduled depositions, one late this week and the other in the final week of January.

Though Britney's lawyers in the custody dispute, Trope and Trope, filed legal papers Wednesday, December 2, seeking to withdraw from the case they will continue to represent Britney till February 4, when their filing is scheduled to be heard and disposed off by the judge.

"Her lawyers can't just leave Britney in a lurch," a source explained to OK! magazine.

If Britney misses the two depositions Federline lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan could plead with the judge to award Federline permanent custody of the toddlers Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Currently, Federline has temporary custody of the children.

If the judge still declines to rule in their favor Kaplan could opt to go ahead with the trial.

"Kevin's lawyer will probably ask for the trial to go ahead as planned on April 9, but without allowing Britney's team to depose anymore witnesses for Kevin's side of the case," the source tells OK!

Legal papers filed by Trope and Trope Wednesday revealed names of other witnesses proposed to be deposed in the case. These include former Brit bodyguards Lonnie Jones and Anthony Barretto.

Jones last worked for Britney in 2006 and Barretto filed a declaration in September alleging "nudity, drug use and safety issues post-rehab."

According to PageSix.com, a surprise entry in the list of those to be deposed is Christina Cindrich, Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA, 1999 and long time Britney friend.

Kevin Federline reaches out to Jamie Lynn Spears

Kevin Federline, who has been in the news lately for partying with his ex Britney Spears frenemy Paris Hilton during the lead up to the new year, is concerned about his 16-year-old pregnant sister-in-law Jamie Lynn and wants to be 'part of her support system.'

"Kevin has long thought of Jamie Lynn as a little sister," a Federline family member tells OK! in its new issue.

Federline, who kept in touch with Jamie Lynn and her mother Lynne Spears following his separation and divorce from Britney, "was heartbroken" by Jamie's shocking pregnancy.

Now, however, he has reconciled and "just wants to be part of the support system," says the family member.
